Bitcoin: Buzzword or Blessing? A Steward’s Guide for Retirees

“A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children.” – Proverbs 13:22

1. Why We’re Even Talking About Bitcoin

It’s on every headline scroll and dinner-table debate—“digital gold,” “the future of money,” “you’ll miss out if you don’t buy.” That noise can feel urgent.

At 1322 Legacy Strategies, urgency is never our advisor. Stewardship is. Our calling is to help you keep control of your capital so you can bless generations—not chase the crowd.

2. First Things First: What Bitcoin Is (and Isn’t)

  • Not a bank. No FDIC, no helpful teller when something goes wrong.
  • Not a business. There are no profits, dividends, or cash-flow statements.
  • Barely a currency. You can’t pay your property taxes or buy groceries with it—yet.

Bitcoin is an investment—a speculative one. Like any investment, it demands you hand over control of real dollars in exchange for a digital token whose price can swing wildly in an afternoon.

3. The Steward’s Litmus Test: Invest vs. Capitalize

Rule of Thumb: Don’t risk a dollar in investing until your capitalization layer is rock-solid—cash reserves, properly structured life insurance (Infinite Banking), and guaranteed income streams (annuities).

4. Where Does Bitcoin Fit—If at All?

  1. Legacy doesn’t require it. Your heirs aren’t blessed merely because Grandpa owned a volatile asset.
  2. Volatility is amplified in retirement. A 40% price drop is annoying at 35; it’s catastrophic when you’re withdrawing assets for income.
  3. Regulation remains a wild card. Tax rules and legal protections are still forming—an extra layer of uncertainty.

If you ever decide to explore Bitcoin, do so only when:

  • Your capitalization layer is complete and liquid.
  • You’ve educated yourself beyond headlines.
  • You can afford a total loss without harming your lifestyle or legacy goals.

5. Three Questions for the Faithful Steward

  1. Control: Will buying this asset force me to surrender access to capital I might need?
  2. Purpose: Does it further my mission to provide, protect, and bless—or is it FOMO?
  3. Plan: Do I have a written strategy for how any profits (or losses) affect my estate and income plan?

If a clear “yes” doesn’t echo through all three, step back.

6. The Bottom Line

Legacy isn’t built on hype. It’s built on wisdom, patience, and stewardship. Let the world chase speculation; you stay focused on controlling your capital and building the inheritance your children’s children will actually depend on.

“Control your capital. Build your legacy.”

Need clarity on capitalization vs. investment—or how Infinite Banking keeps you firmly in the driver’s seat? We’re here to guide, not to hype.
